SUSU-HADA

수수-하다 (Susu-hada) reflects my philosophy of minimal, considerate making. My practice is informed by Korean textile traditions derived from a frugal mentality towards materials. I make garments through the slow process of natural dyeing and recycling materials. Working with limited materials prompts the honest construction of my forms.

My performance creates communal staining of cloth. I gather people around a bountiful table of natural pigments, fabric, and various “tools”. I’m interested in the instinctual interactions between these objects and people. The mess-making progresses into orchestral collaboration, saturated with color and sound.
